DUMBARTON

Dumbarton is an industrial market town and royal burgh on the River Leven in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Dumbarton became a royal burgh in 1222 and rivalled Glasgow as an important market town, but by the 18th century the growth of ship-building and engineering was changing the town to an important industrial centre and by 1853 there were five shipyards. Since the decline of ship-building, whisky distilling and light industry have taken over as the main employers.
Dumbarton is a CDP in Henrico County, Virginia, USA.
