Epsom (formerly known as Ebbesham during the 10th century and erroneously recorded in the Domesday Book as Evesham) is a market town in Surrey, 26 km south-west of London. It is famous the world-over for its horse racing course and mineral spring. Racing started at Epsom during the reign of James I.
