ERITREA

The State of Eritrea is a country in north-east Africa. The language is English, Arabic and Tigrinya. The religion is Coptic, Christian and Muslim. Eritrea was a part of Ethiopia during the 10th century, before becoming part of the Ottoman Empire and then an Italian colony in 1890. From 1941 to 1952 it was under British administration before becoming an autonomous province of Ethiopia in 1962. Civil war broke out in 1971, with Eritrea demanding full independence, which was achieved in 1993.
