EXETER

Exeter (recorded in the Domesday Book as Execestre) is a city on the river Exe in Devon, England. Founded as the Roman station of Isca Dumnoniorum, Exeter was for a long time the capital of the West Saxon kingdom. Today it is the administrative capital of Devon and host to a livestock market.
Exeter is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA. The town was founded about 1638. During the latter part of the seventeenth and early part of the eighteenth century the town suffered severely from attacks by Indians, especially in 1690 and 1709. Phillips Exeter Academy was established here in 1781.
