FALKLAND

Falkland is a royal burgh in Fife, Scotland. The original stronghold belonged to the Earls of Fife but passed in the 15th century to the Stuarts, who made it their royal hunting lodge. The palace was built between 1501 and 1541 by James IV and James V, and Mary Stuart spent some of her childhood here. It was deserted after the Jacobite rising of 1715 and fell into ruin, until being restored by the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the late 19th century.
Falkland is a town in Pitt County, North Carolina, USA.
