FRENCH GUIANA

French Guiana is a country on the north coast of South America. It has a total area of 91,000 km2. The climate is tropical; hot and humid with little seasonal temperature variation. The terrain is low-lying coastal plains rising to hills and small mountains. Natural resources are bauxite, timber, gold (which is widely scattered), cinnabar, kaolin and fish. The religion is predominantly Roman Catholic and the language is French.
