GREENOCK

Greenock is a town in Inverclyde, Scotland. Until the 17th century Greenock was a small fishing village, which benefited from the herring boom of the 1670s. In 1711 the Clyde's first dock was built here; heralding rapid growth for the village during the 18th and early 19th centuries, making Greenock Scotland's foremost port by 1840.
