HEBRON

Hebron (anciently known as Kirjath-arba or Mamre) is a city lying between Jerusalem and Beersheba, in the West Bank area occupied by Israel since 1967. A mosque, called El-Haram, formerly a church, contains the alleged tombs of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, etc and as such it is a holy city of both Judaism and Islam.
