Huntsville is a city in Madison County, Alabama, USA. The city was founded and named after John Hunt, the pioneer, who lived in a cabin beside a spring on the site in 1805. By 1819 the then town was the largest in alabama, and remained a market town until the 1950s when former Nazi rocket scientists, who had developed the V1 and V2 rockets that were used against Britian during the Second World War, were brought in from Germany to work for the American rocket and ballistic missile programme.
