JIPIJAPA

Jipijapa is a town in Ecuador. The town is famous as being the place where a style of hat made from plaited palm leaves was first manufactured. These hats were called Jipijapa hats throughout Latin America, and wrongly termed 'Panama Hat' in the UK.
