The Probert Encyclopaedia of Places of the World

KASKASKIA

Kaskaskia is a township in Fayette County, Illinois, USA. Originally a French settlement, settled in the latter part of the seventeenth century, Kaskaskia was garrisoned in 1778 by British soldiers. During the American War of Independence, Colonel George Rogers Clark captured it with three companies of Kentucky recruits on the night of July 4th, after a short struggle and with but little bloodshed.
Kaskaskia is a village in Randolph County, Illinois, USA.
