LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas is a city in Clark County, Nevada, USA. The city was first settled by Mormons in 1855, who abandoned the site in 1857. In 1931 gambling was legalised in Las Vegas, and in 1946 the New York gangster Benjamin Siegel and his long-time friend, the actor George Raft in conjunction with the national crime syndicate opened a gambling club, 'Flamingo' to provide gambling entertainment to nearby Californians.
