NEW FOREST

The New Forest (recorded in the Domesday Book as Nova Foresta) is a region of woodland and heath in south-west Hampshire, England. It was a hunting ground of the West Saxon kings, and was declared a new forest and declared a hunting preserve by William the Conqueror in the 11th century. Today it is a tourist area, noted for its wild ponies.
