The Independent State of Papua New Guinea is a country in the south west Pacific. It has a total area of 461,690 km2. The climate is tropical with a north-west monsoon from December to March and a south-east monsoon from May to October and slight seasonal temperature variation. The terrain is mostly mountains with coastal lowlands and rolling foothills. Natural resources are gold, copper, silver, natural gas, timber, oil potential.
