PORTLAND

Portland is a county of east Jamaica.

Portland is a port and city in Cumberland County, Maine, USA. It is sited on Casco Bay and is the largest city in the state. It was settled by the English in 1632, destroyed successively by French, Indian, and British attacks, and then rebuilt in 1783 and incorporated in 1786.. It was the capital of Maine from 1820 to 1832. A city charter was obtained in 1832. It was the scene of a disastrous fire in 1866.
