SLOVAKIA

Slovakia (properly the Slovak Republic) is a country in central Europe. The language is Slovak, Hungarian and Czech. Slovakia was part of Hungary from the 11th century until 1918 when it was united with the Czech lands of Bohemia and Moravia to form Czechoslovakia. In 1938 Slovakia declared independence, but became a puppet state of Nazi Germany. A popular revolt occurred in 1944 and Slovakia became once more part of Czechoslovakia in 1945. In 1993 Slovakia and the Czech Republic separated to become independent sates.
