STATIA

Statia is one of the Windward Islands, in the North Eastern Caribbean 150 miles east of Puerto Rico, 90 miles east of St Croix, 38 miles south of St Maarten and 17 miles south-east of Saba. It is 5 miles long and 2 miles wide covering 11.8 sq.miles. Together with sister islands Saba and St Maarten,
Statia forms the Windward Islands of the Dutch Caribbean. The climate is generally dry and sunny. Light constant North East trade winds bring constant cool breezes and sufficient moisture to keep average day time temperatures down to about 27 degrees Celsius. The average night time temperatures drop to a comfortable 23 degrees. Rainfall occurs in showers of medium duration during the months of April, June and September. The language is Dutch (official), English and Spanish.
