The Probert Encyclopaedia of Places of the World

TELEMARK

Telemark is a region of southern Norway. It first achieved international fame around 1860 when the local skiers developed a binding for skis enabling them to pioneer new methods of jumping and turning. During the Second World War the occupying German forces built heavy-water factories.
