Ukrayina or Ukraine is a country in east Europe. The Language is Ukranian, Russian, Polishh and Tatar. The country of Ukraine was once the state of Kievan Rus, merging with the Russians and Belarussians before being conquered by the Mongols in the 14th century, and later the Poles who ruled the area from the 14th century until 1648 when a Cossack-led revolt established a military state. During the 18th century Russia secured control of Ukraine, but in 1918 following the Russian revolution Ukraine declared independence, only to be invaded by Russia again in 1921 and made a union republic of the USSR in 1922, before once more declaring independence in 1991.
