VINCENNES

Vincennes is a city in Knox County, Indiana, USA. Vincennes is the oldest city in the State. It was settled by the French in 1702. It came into the possession of England on the surrender of Canada in 1763, but was taken from them by the American army under General George Rogers Cark in 1779, It became the capital of Indiana in 1800 and remained the seat of the Government until 1814.
