Woking (formerly known as Wochingas in the 8th century and recorded in the Domesday Book as Wochinges) is a town in Surrey, England. The old town dates back to Anglo-Saxon times, but modern Woking developed with the railway in the late 1830s to become primarily a residential commuter town. Woking has a long association with India, the Oriental Institute being founded in Woking for the training of young Indians about 1884, and a mosque erected in August 1889. Research Woking
