ZAMBIA

The Republic of Zambia is a country in central Africa. It has a total area of 752,610 km2. The climate is tropical; modified by altitude with a rainy season lasting from October to April. The terrain is mostly comprised of high plateaus with some hills and mountains. Natural resources are copper, cobalt, zinc, lead, coal, emeralds, gold, silver, uranium, hydropower potential. The religion is 50-75% Christian, 1% Muslim and Hindu, and the remainder indigenous beliefs. The official language is English with about 70 indigenous languages also spoken.
Zambia became an independent country in 1964, formerly having been Northern Rhodesia.
