JERSEY PRISON SHIP

The Jersey Prison Ship was an unseaworthy sixty-four-gun ship, lying off the Brooklyn shore of New York harbour from 1776 to 1783, and used by the British as a prison for captured American sailors. The Jervis Bay was an armed British merchant ship of the Second World War which was sunk by the German Pocket Battleship Admiral Scheer while protecting a convoy of merchant ships in the North Atlantic in November 1940. The
Jervis Bay's Captain, Fegen ordered the convoy to scatter and then, hopelessly outgunned, began firing at the battleship so as to draw it away from the convoy. The end was inevitable, and the Jervis Bay went down fighting, but 32 of the convoy ships managed to escape and Fegen was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross. The Jervis Bay is an Australian helicopter, logistic support and training ship, formerly a roll-on roll-off vessel, it was commissioned in the Royal Australian Navy on the 25th of August 1977. junk has no prominent stem or keel. The bow on deck is square and the anchors are on each side of the bow. The stern is full, the rudder suspended, and at sea is lowered beneath the depth of the bottom of the vessel. The immense masts are in one piece and bear lug-sails.

JUNO II

HMS Juno was a British Leander Class frigate of 2500 tons displacement built by Thornycroft and launched in 1965. She was armed with four Aerospatiale Exocet MM38 surface-to-surface missiles; three quad Seacat missile launchers; two 40 mm anti-aircraft guns and six 324 mm Mk 32 torpedo tubes arranged in two triples . She carried a Wasp helicopter and carried a complement of 223. In 1976 she was rammed by the Icelandic Gunboat Tyr and in 1985 completed a four year refit at Rosyth for use as a navigation training ship to replace HMS Torquay. She was decommissioned in 1992 and in 1994 was sold to Intershitra S & P.

The Junon was powered by two diesel engines providing a top speed of 14 knots surfaced and an electric motor providing a speed of 9 knots submerged and a range of 4800 km surfaced. She carried a complement of 48 and armaments consisted of one 3 inch anti-aircraft gun; one machine-gun and seven 21.7 inch and two 15.7 inch torpedo tubes.

HMS Jutland (formerly Malplaquet) was a British Battle Class destroyer of 2315 tons displacement designed for operation in the Pacific Ocean during the Second World War and launched in 1946. HMS Jutland was powered by three Admiralty 3-drum type boilers providing a top speed of 34 knots and carried a crew of 250 in peace time and 337 during the Second World War. She was armed with two pairs of 4.5 inch dual-purpose guns mounted forward and one 4.5 inch dual purpose gun mounted in the 'Q' position; eight 40 mm anti-aircraft guns; two depth charge howitzers; ten 21-inch torpedo tubes.
