Research Raven
The USS Raven is an American Osprey Class mine hunter. The Osprey Class ships are the world's largest glass reinforced plastic (GRP) ships and are the first United States Navy ships designed solely for mine hunting. The technique used to locate mines is by high definition sonar and the mines are neutralised with a remotely controlled underwater vehicle. The platform has been designed with exceptionally low magnetic and acoustic signatures to protect against mine detonations during mine hunting operations. The ship has two Isotta Franschini ID 36 SS 8V AM diesel engines which provide 1,600 hp and drive two Voith Schneider cycloidal propellers for increased manoeuvrability. The non magnetic diesel engines are similar to those used in the US Navy's Avenger Class Mine Countermeasures Vessels. The three diesel generators are Isotta Franschini ID 36. The machinery is acoustically isolated and suspended from the main deck in glass reinforced plastic cradles. When an undersea explosion occurs the isolated machinery remains unaffected. For defence, the ship has two 12.7 mm machine-guns.

The Ravnen is a Danish Flyvefisken Class multi-role warship. For all roles except anti-pollution, the ship carries one 76 mm Otobreda Super Rapid gun which fires 120 rounds per minute and has a range of 16 km. For surface combat roles, two 533 mm torpedo tubes are fitted with Bofors TP613 wire-guided passive homing torpedoes. For ASW roles, anti-submarine torpedoes and depth charge launchers are carried. the AGM-84 (Harpoon) surface-to-surface missile system is fitted for the surface combat role, as is the Mk 48 NATO Vertical Launch Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missile system. The Mk 48 Mod 3 launcher (for vessels under 1000 tons) has cells for six missiles. Mine rails for 60 bottom mines are fitted for mine laying missions. The hull is constructed of an FRP (fibre-reinforced plastic) sandwich with a cellular core between outer and inner FRP laminates. This material reduces weight and maintenance, since it is non-magnetic. Electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) in the non-metallic hull is achieved by sprayed layers of zinc and shielding of cable glands and penetrating non-metallic pipes and ducts.

The RFA Fort Victoria is a British fleet support tanker and a stores support ship. She has a displacement of 31,565 tonnes, and a capacity to carry a cargo of up to 6,250 cubic metres of solids stores plus 12,500 cubic metres of liquids. The RFA Fort Victoria is also fitted with a large two-spot flight deck, a hangar and maintenance facilities for five Sea King sized helicopters. This gives the ship an enhanced capability to re-supply warships in a task group by a technique called vertical replenishment (VERTREP) which involves using helicopters to ferry supplies from ship to ship. VERTREP may be used to speed up the process of replenishing a ship on one of the RAS rigs, or to re-store another vessel that does not need to take fuel onboard. Although the ships are not equipped to support Sea Harrier aircraft, the flight decks are capable of providing an emergency landing facility for the Harrier FA2 (Sea Harrier). The ship was originally designed to support groups of frigates employed on anti-submarine warfare patrols and was intended to operate independently. To this end she is very quiet with low acoustic signature and was constructed with stealth design features to minimise the radar cross section. The size of the ship's company may vary from time to time to meet the requirements of any particular deployment but generally the crew comprises 95 officers and ratings from the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, 24 civilian stores personnel who are members of the civilian Naval Support Command and 9 Royal Navy crew, if Royal Navy helicopters are embarked. Royal Fleet Auxiliaries are required to operate in war zones in support of Royal Navy operations and all have a limited weapons fit for self-defence. The Fort Victoria class ships are armed with four MSI-Defence Systems DS30B gun mounting with Oerlikon KCB 30 mm guns. These are 75 calibre, have a muzzle velocity of over 1000 metres/second and rate of fire of 600 rounds/minute. The ship is powered by two Crossley-Pielstick
engines, type 16 PC2.6 V 400, rated at 23,600 horsepower and which give the ship a maximum speed of 22 knots.

The USS Robin is an American Osprey Class mine hunter.
