ADATS

The Oerlikon ADATS is a Swiss-Canadian dual surface-to-air and surface-to-surface anti-aircraft and anti-tank missile system developed between 1979 and 1985 and adopted by the Canadian army in 1986. ADATS consists of a quadruple missile launcher mounted on a modified M113 APC. The missiles are laser guided and have a range of 10 km and armed with a 12 kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead.

AIFV

The AIFV is an American infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) developed for export as a cross between the M2 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) and M113 APC. The AIFV carries a crew of three and seven passengers. The AIFV is armed with a 25 mm Oerlikon cannon and a 7.62 mm coaxial machine-gun. The AIFV has a top speed of 61 kmh and a range of 490 km.

BTR-70

The BTR-70 is an eight-wheeled Soviet armoured personnel carrier (APC) produced during the 1970s. It is manned by a crew of two and carries nine infantry passengers. The BTR-70 is armed with a 14.5 mm heavy machine-gun and a coaxial 7.62 mm machine-gun. It has a top speed of 50 mph. A major design fault of the BTR-70 is the method of entry and exit. Two small hatches on top of the vehicle are provided for the passengers to enter and leave, but these hatches are over 180 cm above the ground, making the entering and leaving soldiers easy targets to the enemy.

BTR-80

The BTR-80 is an eight-wheeled Soviet armoured personnel carrier (APC). It is manned by a crew of two and carries nine infantry passengers. The BTR-80 is armed with a 14.5 mm heavy machine-gun and a coaxial 7.62 mm machine-gun. It has a top speed of 53 mph. Side doors are provided as well as the original top hatches of the BTR-70 for the passengers to enter and leave, making this an improved model.

FV 430

First introduced in 1962 the FV 430 series of vehicles developed to fulfil fourteen roles in the British army including Command Post APC, ambulance, minelayer, recovery and repair vehicle, mortar, radar or troop carrier. It is manned by a crew of two and can carry up to 10 men and may be armed with a 7.62 mm machine-gun or turret mounted L37 machine-gun. The FV 430 has a top speed of 32 mph and a range of 580 km.

FV 432

The FV 432 was a range of British tracked armoured personnel carriers developed as a replacement for the FV 430 in the late 1950's and was produced from 1963 until 1971. The FV 432 carried a crew of two plus ten passengers. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce K60 No 4 Mk 4F 6-cylinder multi-fuel engine providing a top road speed of 52 kmh and a range of 580 km. The FV 432 could ford 106 cm of water and cross a trench 205 cm wide. It was variously armed, the APC being fitted with a 7.62 mm machine-gun, an ATGW version - the FV 438 - being fitted with two launcher boxes for the BAC Swingfire ATGW in addition to the machine-gun. Another version was fitted with the Wombat recoilless rifle.

HOTSPUR HUSSAR

The Hotspur Hussar is a British military APC designed in 1984 and based upon Land Rover components using a third driven axle to provide a 6x6 configuration. The Hussar is capable of carrying a crew of two plus ten fully-equipped soldiers over rugged terrain. Six gun ports are provided, three on each side of the vehicle through which the occupants can fire at an enemy.
