An ambulance is a wagon, litter or other means of transport used for the conveyance of the sick and disabled.

Ernest Hemingway was an American novelist. He was born in 1898 at Oak Park, Illinois and died in 1961. After becoming a newspaper correspondent in Kansas City he served in a volunteer ambulance crew in Italy during the Great War, and was wounded. He then turned to writing books and wrote such titles as the 1940 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'.

The AMX-10P is a French tracked armoured personnel carrier first produced in 1973. The AMX-10P carries a crew of three plus eight passengers and is armed with a 20 mm cannon and a 7.62 mm coaxial machine-gun. A HS-115 V-8 water-cooled diesel engine provides a top speed of 65 kmh and a range of 600 km. Other variants are produced including an ambulance, repair vehicle, anti-tank model and mortar tractor for towing a Brandt 120 mm mortar.

The Dodge T214 was an American military three-quarter ton truck introduced in 1942 as a successor to the Dodge T215. It was slightly wider and lower with larger wheels and a stronger suspension. The T214 was produced in a number of variants for different roles including weapons carrier, ambulance, command vehicle, reconnaissance vehicle and radio vehicle. The T214 had a top speed of 110 kmh and a range of 450 km.

The Dodge T215 was the US Army half-ton truck used during the Second World War. The T215 was un-armed and un-armoured but produced in various variants for use as an ambulance, command vehicle, reconnaissance vehicle, radio carrier and weapons carrier by the Americans, British and Russians. The T215 had a top speed of 70 kmh and a range of 500 km.

First introduced in 1962 the FV 430 series of vehicles developed to fulfil fourteen roles in the British army including Command Post APC, ambulance, minelayer, recovery and repair vehicle, mortar, radar or troop carrier. It is manned by a crew of two and can carry up to 10 men and may be armed with a 7.62 mm machine-gun or turret mounted L37 machine-gun. The FV 430 has a top speed of 32 mph and a range of 580 km.

The MOWAG is a Swiss general purpose armoured personnel carrier, designed so that it could be adapted for use as an ambulance, command vehicle or APC. The MOWAG carries a crew of three and three additional passengers protected by 8 mm thick armour and is armed with a 12.7 mm or 7.62 mm machine-gun. A V- 8 four-stroke water-cooled petrol engine provides a top speed of 80 kmh and a range of 400 km.

Samaritan is the British armoured unarmed ambulance vehicle based on the Striker. It is powered by a Jaguar 4.2 litre engine providing a top speed of 45 mph, carries a crew of two and can carry up to six casualties.

The YW531 (Type 63 APC) is a range of Chinese first generation PLA armoured personnel carriers. They have a basic straight forward 1960's design consisting of an armoured box with a 12.7 mm machine-gun mounted on top. Development of the YW531 started in 1958 with final approval received in 1963. The YW531A model appeared in 1970 and the much improved YW 531B in 1981. In 1982 the type was further improved and named the YW531C. Various models are produced including; the YW304, an 82 mm self-propelled mortar; the YW381 a 120 mm self-propelled mortar; YW750, an armoured ambulance. They carry a crew of two, and have a troop capacity of 13 men in the APC variants, and have a top speed of 40 mph and a water crossing speed of 4 mph.

The Auster Autocar is a British civil light aircraft designed to be used for carrying freight, crop spraying, glider towing, passenger carrying and ambulance duties. The Auster Autocar is a high-wing strut braced monoplane powered by a Gipsy Major I or a Cirrus Major 3 or a Gipsy Major 10 four-cylinder in-line inverted air-cooled engine providing a top speed of about 200 kmh. The Auster Autocar has accommodation for four people in an enclosed cabin sitting two side-by-side at the front and two side-by-side at the rear of the cabin.
