The articularis genus is an upper leg muscle that pulls back the bursa of the knee as the leg is extended. It is one of the quadricepsmuscles and sometime considered a part of the vastus medialis. This muscle originates from the anterior portion of the femur just below the vastus medialis muscle and inserts in the tip of the patellar bursa. It is innervated by the femoral nerve.
