In Persian mythology, Bahram Gur is the legendary Sassanian king, renowned as a hunter and lover, credited with the invention of poetry, and a frequent figure in Persian poetry and iconography. He married the seven daughters of the Kings of the Seven Climates, sleeping with a different one each night of the week, and each one telling him a different tale. The tales, telling of natural and fantastic events, are seen in Persian Islamic tradition as symbolic of the purification of the mystic's soul on its way to God. Research Bahram Gur
