The badger (Meles taxus or Meles vulgaris) or brock is an omnivorous mammal of the family Mustelidae, allied both to the bears and to the weasels, of a clumsy make, with short thick legs, and long claws on the fore-feet. found in England and Europe. The Battle of Queenstown, Ontario occurred during the War of 1812 and was a preparation for an invasion of Canada. General Van Rensselaer, in command of the American troops on the Niagarafrontier, mustered nearly 6000 men at or near Lewiston. On the night of October the 12th, 1812, he sent over about 1000 men to attack Queenstown preparatory to a further invasion of Canada. General Brock, the capturer of Detroit, in person commanded the British forces, but was killed early in the action. The Brock was a British machine-gunbullet developed by commander Frederick Brock of the Royal Navy and first successfully demonstrated in 1915. The Brock bullet was designed to explode between the outer covering and gas cells of an airship, and was used by the British RFC until 1917 and the RNAS throughout the Great War. Research Brock
Detroit is one of the oldest industrial cities in the USA. It is situated in Michigan, USA on the Detroit river that connects LakeSt Clair with LakeErie. The site was visited by the French in 1669 and Detroit was founded as a fort in 1701 by Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac with fifty French settlers and fifty French soldiers. It fell to the British in 1763, and was besieged by Pontiac; to the United States in 1783. On August 16, 1812, General Hull, with 2000 men, made an inglorious surrender of Detroit to the British and Indians under General Brock and Tecumseh. Hull was cashiered. Harrison retook the town in October 1813, after Perry's victory on lake Erie. From 1805 until 1847 Detroit was the capital of Michigan Territory and State.
