CACHALOT

USS Cachalot was an American Cachalot Class submarine of 1110 tons displacement launched in 1933. USS Cachalot was powered by two sets of GM 'V' type diesel engines providing a top speed of 17 knots surfaced and 9 knots submerged. She carried a complement of 52 and was armed with one 3-inch anti-aircraft gun and six 21 inch torpedo tubes.

HMS Cachalot was a British Porpoise Class minelayer submarine of 1500 tons displacement launched in 1937 and sunk during the Second World War. She was armed with one 4-inch gun; two machine guns and six 21-inch torpedo tubes in the bow. She was powered by diesel engines providing a top speed of 15.75 knots on the surface, and electric motors providing a top speed of 8.75 knots submerged. She carried a complement of 55.
