Cadwalader was an ancient king of Gwynedd, succeeding his father as king in 634. He heroically defended Wales against the Saxons before his death in 664.

JOHN CADWALADER

John Cadwalader was an American militia leader. He was born in 1742 and died in 1786. He was a member of the Philadelphia Committee of Safety and served as a brigadier-general at Trenton and as a volunteer at Brandywine and at Germantown. He wounded General Conway in a duel.

THOMAS CONWAY

Thomas Conway was a French soldier. He was born in 1733 and died in 1800. He went to the USA in 1777 and was made a brigadier-general. He was present at the Battle of Brandywine and at the Battle of Germantown. He was the leader of the 'Conway Cabal' conspiracy against George Washington, and was subsequently wounded in a duel fought with general John Cadwalader. Soon after he returned to France and was made Governor of Pondicherry.

BATTLE OF MOLINO DEL REY

The Battle of Molino del Rey, Mexico occurred on September the 8th, 1847 during the Mexican War, when General Worth with 3500 soldiers defeated the Mexican leaders, Leon, Perez and Alvarez and their force of 10000 Mexicans. Scott sent Worth to attack this fortress by night, but this being found impracticable, Worth drew up his lines during the night and commenced battle at dawn, Wright leading the storming party, Garland cutting off support from Chapultepec, Mclntosh facing the Mexican right and Cadwalader the centre. The Mexicans fought bravely, but were overcome with much loss.
