Calc-sinter or calcareous tufa is a loose and porous deposit of carbonate of lime, formed by mineral or petrifying springs. Water charged with carbonic acid can dissolve carbonate of lime out of the rocks, and on its emerging to the air, deposit part of it again in the form of an incrustation. Research Calc-sinter
