Penelope Wilton (also known as Penelope Winton) is an English actress. She was born in 1946 at Scarborough, Yorkshire. First popular with television audiences for her starring role in the 1980's television comedy 'Ever Decreasing Circles' she went on to star in Calendar Girls, Shaun of the Dead and appear in Doctor Who as prime minister 'Harriet Jones'.

Calendar Girls is a comedy starring Helen Mirren, Julie Walters, Linda Bassett, Annette Crosbie, Celia Imrie and Penelope Wilton in the true story of a local Womens Institute group who to raise money to buy a sofa for the local cancer hospice decide to pose for a nude calendar, despite all being over fourty years old. Calendar Girls was directed by Nigel Cole in 2003.
