In Navajo Indian mythology, a chindi is the ghost left behind when a person dies. The chindi is all that was bad of the person, and is something to be dreaded for fear of it attacking the living and making them sick. The Navajo believe that after a person dies their name should never be spoken, in case the chindi hears you calling and comes and makes you ill. Research Chindi
