Damaskeening is the process of ornamenting iron and steel with designs produced by inlaying or encrusting with another metal such as gold or silver, by etching and the like. It is a process of decoration often used for the plates of the movements of clocks and watches. Damaskeening originated in Damascus during the Middle Ages, hence the name. Research Damaskeening
