Jean Cadell was a Scottish actress. She was born in 1884 and died in 1967. A stage actress from around 1900, Jean Cadell entered films in 1919, often playing feisty young women. Her first talkie was, appropriately enough, the 1930 'The Loves of Robert Burns. Usually seen as sharp-tongued wives and remonstrating housekeepers, she was prominently cast in such films as the 1935 David Copperfield as Mrs. Micawber and the 1937 Pygmalion as Mrs. Pierce. One of her most fondly remembered 1940s characterizations was as the Scots postmistress in the Boulting Brothers' 'I Know Where I'm Going'. Research Jean Cadell
