Alanine is an amino acid derivative of the pyruvic family of biochemical compounds. Alanine and its isomers have been classified as non-essential to growth based upon laboratory study, but is widely found in proteins.
Alanine is commonly synthesized in laboratories and used for biochemical research.

Neoarsphenamine is a derivative of arsenic used in treating syphilis.

The Browning BDA9 is a Belgian pistol produced since 1993 by the FN company. It is a derivative of the Browning High Power pistol with a double-action lock mechanism. It is chambered for the 9 mm Parabellum cartridge and takes a 14-round magazine.

The China Type 67 is a Chinese derivative of the China Type 64 pistol. It has a built in silencer, but is less clumsy than the Type 64, and the breech cannot be locked, rather the pistol operates in an ordinary blowback manner. The Type 67 is chambered for a special 7.62 mm calibre cartridge known as the Type 64, and takes a nine round magazine.

Conia also known as Coniine or cicutine is a volatile alkaloid, the active poisonous principle of hemlock. It exists in all parts of the plant, but especially in the not quite ripe seed. When pure it is a colourless oily liquid changing by exposure to the air to a brown fluid, and ultimately to a resinous bitter mass. It has been prepared synthetically since at least 1905 and is a derivative of pyridine. It has a nauseous taste and very disagreeable odour, sharp and choking when strong, but in small quantities like that of mice. It is exceedingly poisonous, causing death by paralysis of the muscles used in respiration.

Cyamellone (hydromellonic acid) is a complex derivative of cyanogen, regarded as an acid, known chiefly in its salts.

Menthol is an alcohol derivative of menthone and occurs in peppermint. It is also known as menthylic alcohol and camphor of peppermint.

Oxyquinoline (carbostyril) is hydroxy quinoline; a phenol derivative of quinoline.

Phenolphthalein is a derivative of triphenyl-methane, formed when phthalic acid is heated with phenol in the presence of a dehydrating agent. It is a pale yellow solid that is soluble in alcohol, and forms bright red compounds with alkalis, that are decomposed by the weaker acids - even carbon dioxide. On account of this it is used as an indicator in acidimetry.

Rosolic acid, methyl-aurine, is a derivative of triphenyl-methane, corresponding to rosaniline, but with the amido groups of that compound replaced by hydroxyl groups. It is used as an indicator in acidimetry and sometimes as a dye.
