The USS Gainard was an American Allen M Sumner Class destroyer of 2200 tons displacement launched in 1944. The USS Gainard was powered by four boilers providing a top speed of 36.5 knots. She carried a complement of 350 and was armed with six 5 inch guns; twelve 40 mm anti-aircraft guns; eleven 20 mm anti-aircraft guns and ten 21 inch torpedo tubes arranged in two quintuplets.
