Iatrochemistry is a term for a form of chemistry used in medicine. The term was especially applied with regard to the doctrines in the school of 17th century Flanders physicians who believed that health depended upon the proper chemical relations of the fluids of the body, and who endeavored to explain the conditions of health or disease by chemical principles. Itromathematics was a school of thought among some 17th century Italian physicians who tried to apply the laws of mechanics and mathematics to the human body, and hence were keen students of anatomy.
