Basil Rathbone (real name Philip St John Basil Rathbone) was a South African born English actor. He was born in 1892 at Johannesburg and died in 1967 of a heart attack. He appeared as the character 'Sherlock Holmes' in fourteen 'Sherlock Holmes' films, and played a comedy cameo role in the 1943 film 'Crazy House'.

Kate Vaughan (real name Catherine Candelon) was an English actress. She was born in 1852 at London and died in 1903. She made her debut as a dancer in 1870, first appearing on the stage as an actress in 1872. From 1876 to 1883 she was acting in burlesque at The Gaiety and in 1886
Organised with H B Conway the Vaughan-Conway comedy company. Her health failing, she went to Australia, 1896, and South Africa in 1902, dying at Johannesburg in1903.
