George B Crittenden was an American soldier. He was born in 1812 and died in 1880. A son of John J Crittenden, he was a major and a lieutenant-colonel in the Texan Revolution, joined the Confederates as a brigadier-general, and as a major-general was defeated in a rash attack upon general Thomas at Fishing Creek. John Jordan Crittenden was an American politician. He was born in 1787 and died in 1863. A lawyer he became Attorney-General of Illinois territory and fought in the American War of 1812. He was a Whig governor of Kentucky from 1848 until 1850, Senator from Kentucky from 1817 to 1819, and from 1835 to 1841, 1842 to 1849 and from 1855 to 1861.
