JOHN LE MESURIER

John Le Mesurier was an English comedy actor. He was born in 1912 at Bedford and died in 1983. He was schooled in Dorset and destined for a career in Law, before at the age of twenty entering drama school. During the Second World War he served as a captain in India before returning to acting after the war appearing in several episodes of 'Hancock's Half Hour' before landing the role of sergeant Wilson in the BBC TV series 'Dad's Army' in 1968.
