The Kalev was a British-built Estonian submarine of 600 tons displacement launched in 1936. The Kalev was powered by two Vickers diesel engines providing a top speed of 13.5 knots surfaced and electric motors providing a top speed of 8.5 knots submerged. She carried a complement of 30 and had a range of 3200 km at 10 knots. Armaments consisted on one 40 mm anti-aircraft gun; four 21-inch torpedo tubes in the bow and twenty mines. Research Kalev
