The Kharg is a British built Iranian military replenishment ship launched in 1977 and delivered to the Iranian navy in 1984. She has a displacement of 11064 tons and carries a complement of 248. She is powered by two Westinghouse geared turbines rated at 26870 shp which provide a top speed of 21.5 knots. Although supplied to the Iranian navy without fitted armaments, she is equipped with one OTO Melara 76 mm/62 compact gun and four USSR 23 mm/80 guns arranged in two twins. She can also carry three helicopters.
