In heraldry, kite shaped refers to a shape of shield. The kite shaped shield is rounded at the chiefs and tapers down the sides to a pointed base. Kite shaped, or elongated shields are found in 15th and 16th century heraldry, and were used in the days of Richard I and among the Barons of the Magna Carter. The kite shaped shield was superseded by the smaller heatershield which came into use in England with Henry III. Research Kite Shaped
