KORLAI

Korlai is a Portuguese creole language spoken in the remote area of Maharashtra, Korlai, India. Korlai originated around 1520, and developed as the community was cut off from the surrounding peoples by religious and social barriers. They lost almost all contact with the Portuguese after 1740, only to be re-discovered by the West in the late 20th century.
