Lafayette S Foster was an American politician. He was born in (1806 at Connecticut and died in 1880. He was a descendant of Miles Standish and was admitted to the bar in 1831, was elected to the State Legislature in 1839, 1840 and 1846, and was Speaker in 1847, 1848. and 1854. He was a US Senator from 1855 until 1867, and served on the committees on land claims, public lands, pensions, the judiciary and foreign relations, and was president of the Senate from 1865 to 1867. He was Speaker of the Connecticut Assembly in 1870, and was a judge of the State Supreme Court from 1870 to 1876. Research Lafayette Foster
