Lerripippes was the ancient dress of a clergyman. Originally a hood or tipet, it later evolved into a scarf or an appendage to the ancient hood, consisting of long tails or tippets, passing round the neck and hanging down to the feet, and often jagged. Lerripippes were not just worn by the clergy, commoners during the reign of Edward III were also observed wearing them. Research Lerripippes
