Melchiore Cesarotti was an Italian poet. He was born in 1730 at Padua and died in 1808. He became professor of rhetoric at Padua, and subsequently professor of the Greek and Hebrew languages. Besides his own poems, his works include translations of Voltaire's tragedies, Ossian, Demosthenes, and the Iliad, and essays on the Philosophy of Languages, on Studies, etc. Research Melchiore Cesarotti
