Research Results For 'Nahum Tate'

NAHUM TATE

Nahum Tate was an Irish poet and dramatist and poet laureate. He was born in 1652 at County Cavan and died in 1715. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin, his dramatic work was mainly that of an adaptor and collaborator. In 1692 he was appointed poet laureate and in collaboration with Nicholas Brady he published a new version of the Psalms in 1696.

NICOLAS BRADY

Nicolas Brady was an Irish writer. He was born in 1659 at Bandon and died in 1726. He was rector of the church of St Catherine Cree, London, and latterly of Richmond, Surrey. He made a translation of the AEneid; but is only remembered now as the collaborateur of Nahum Tate in that version of the Psalms commonly used in the Episcopal church.
